History

...according to oral tradition, Bibione is the result of God’s experiment. The Creator, according to this legend, shook a bag of stones along the banks of the river Tagliamento. These stones became islands and with the passing of time they were reunited and thus…formed Bibione. The river Tagliamento, with its wide bed, flows towards the sea and signs the Eastern limits with the region Friuli; the Western limits are defined by the lagoon with its unique colors, the Southern by the Adriatic Sea and the Northern by Eastern Veneto. But this shiny sea, the incredibly wide beach, this unreadable sun that always trick the weather forecasts, are only some of the many components’ Bibione: the ticket, the pinewood, the ancient oak trees “lecci”, the salty lagoons with the typical fisher houses casoni. The silence, the smell of pine resin and mysterious spices, the fluttering of invisible wings, the rush of a protected animal passing by: also all these “intangible” aspects are a lively part of Bibione.
