Beach Volley Marathon 2008

Beach Volley Marathon, the best known and spectacular sports open event of this specialty (last year 5,000 participants!) offers two new shows for the 2008 summer: the first one for the season opening, on Friday 30th, Saturday 31st May and Sunday 1st June; the second, for the season end, on Friday 5th, Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th September. The competition takes place on the new beach arena in front of the International Tourist Village (Bibione Thermae area) and the scenario will be again the area used for the big events: a stretch of 150 playgrounds on which two different tournaments will be played (International Sports Meeting 3x3 M/F - 4x4 Mixed and Beach Volley Open Contest 2x2 M/F) to offer the participants a diversified agonistic competition.


The beach marathon runners will also have the possibility of playing in both tournaments, the competition boards will namely be organised so that the matches will not be held simultaneously. At sunset sports activities will leave the room to parties on the beach you cannot miss and the fun goes then on in the best clubs of the seaside resort.

International Sports Meeting 3X3 M/F – 4X4 Mixed. You will play on Saturday and Sunday. The Sports Meeting is intended for athletes of all ages and playing levels divided into the following categories: 3X3 men, 3X3 women and 4X4 mixed, with the possibility to use two eventual reserves.
The playing features consist in a qualifying (on Saturday) with matches played according to Italian rounds with four/five teams.


At the end of the qualifying, a provisional rank for each playing category will be made, according to the point ratio gained by each team up to that moment. To the final phase (on Sunday) the 320 teams having the best point ratio gained in the qualifying will participate, for each playing category.
The final phase will take place according to the above mentioned rank with matches with direct elimination until the final match.
The refereeing will be made by Federation referees and, with a rotation, by the same participants according to a detailled match program provided at the check-in. The playing rules are available on the website www.beachvolley.it.


Beach Volley Open Contest 2x2 M/F. You will play on Friday and Saturday. The tounament is intended for athletes (amateurs and athletes) that preferably play 2 against 2 (having in this case the possibility to have an eventual reserve as substitution of the regular player before the match begins). The match board will be filled in according to the applications received, assigning the best positions (top position) to the couples whose applications were the first ones to be formalised. The playing features consist in a board with double elimination: from the winners board you enter into the losers board at the first defeat and after the second defeat you are eliminated. The two winning couples of the board and the two loser couples of the board remained after the elimination phase will play the semifinals. The playing rules are the international Beach Volley rules.


Beach Volley License. According to an agreement between Fipav and the Organising Committee, the participation fee to the sports show includes the 1st level personal Beach Volley license for each show. This guarantees to the athletes a minimal insurance cover in case an accident happens. For this reason it is necessary to send, together with the application form, the complete athletes’ list with an indication of: name and surname, date and place of birth, fiscal code, permanent adress, e-mail and matriculation number (facsimile to download on the website www.beachvolley.it on the link “Application / Athletes’ form”). We remind you that the license can also be requested by the athlete or his/her association on the website www.federvolley.it, section beach, link “ask for the license online”.


Prizegiving. The first four teams of the playing categories 3X3 M/F and 4X4 Mixed, besides the products linked with the sponsorings they will receive, will be also awarded as follows: euro 1,000.00 (first position); euro 500.00 (second position); euro 300.00 (third position); euro 200.00 (fourth position). For the 2X2 M/F playing category, the assigned prize money will amount to 50% of the above mentioned amounts.


Check-in. The check-in will take place at the Municipal Tennis Center Bibione (via Cellina, 2) on Thursday and Friday from 11 am to 11 pm (to 8 pm for the teams not using accommodation) and on Saturday from 8 am to 9 am.
At the arrival in Bibione, the team-manager will arrange the check-in where the competition programs and any information about accomodation and night animation activities will be delivered. The athletes having regularly paid the association fee (see application form) will receive the play tank top and the coloured identification armband, which is compulsory for playing the games (the persons accompaying the team will receive an identification armband with a different colour).

The armband, that has to be compulsory worn on the wrist or the ankle for the whole duration of the competition, will allow you to enter into the International Tourist Village for free, where it will be possible to use changing rooms with warm water showers, big swimming pools with water slide and whirlpool, bar, restaurant, beach material with sun bed and sun umbrella and even more; the armband will furthermore let you enter to club parties for free, guarantees you reductions on the entrance to thermal pools, discounts in the pizzerias and in some pubs.


Accommodation. For the participants and their families and friends accommodation offers with special prices in apartments, hotels, holiday camp and camp sites are available (see application form to download on the website www.beachvolley.it).


Reductions. There will be reductions on the participation fee for the teams that will use the accommodation facilites at disposal and for the ones that will formalise their application for first and for the teams who applied for both tournaments in the same sports event.


Bibione Thermae. In the spa in Bibione you can find the pleasure of feeling fit. For the ones who do not want to just practice sports, they can enjoy a modern wellness centre with big thermal pools for adults and children, provided with whirlpools and water games, a modern beauty center, sauna, Turkish bath, solarium and restaurant facilities. Bibione Thermae is just one hundred metres from the playground. For the athletes and their families and friends, there is a discount of 20% on the entrance fee to the thermal pools.


News 2008. The Beach Volley Marathon to be held at the end of May will also offer a particular and spectacular fitness event. On Saturday 31st May and on Sunday 1st June, on a 1,000 square metres covered footboard, prepared directly on the beach and a few metres from the central play arena, one of the most important fitness conventions will be held, with aerobics courses (open to everybody), step and Caribic and Latin group dance with the best national and international presenters.
