Hooray for Summer!
Read the second part of Bibi´s story
“Awesome!” Come on, let’s build a sand castle and play paddle ball on the seashore”. Bibi was trying to hit the ball when he fell out of bed, landing right on the floor. “Ouch!!! he cried. He opened his eyes and looked out of the window; it was pitch dark and the stars high above still reflected in the glassy surface of the sea.
Bibi realized he had only been dreaming about the many new friends he had made on the beach in Bibione, last summer. Kids from all over the world whom he had played and had fun with.
Playing with and moulds, buckets and spades and kites had made the hours spent on the beach magic, full of excitement and joy.
Swimming, splashing and playing in the waves …
Immediately he remembered the fantastic evenings at the Luna Park, enjoying cotton candy and the tank engine train that gave the children rides around the resort. “Choo Choo! Here comes the choo choo train!”
What wonderful memories! How exciting the open-air cinema, watching movies and cartoons, amongst the pine trees, and loads of ice-cream, candies and popcorn to nibble on with his friends.
Just then, Lunetta, the big white moon that lights the night, looked into Bibi’s sand home and caught a glimpse of a big tear rolling down his cheek.
“Hey there, why are you so miserable?” asked Lunetta. The little red crab wiped the tear away and wailed: “I’m left all alone; all my friends have gone away and I will not see them until next summer.” Lunetta gently explained that all the children had returned to their homes, as they had to go to kindergarten and school to learn maths, geography and history.
“You too, should go to school and learn the languages the kids, who come to Bibione in summer, speak. Next summer you could meet lots of new friends and play and have loads of fun with them”.
Bibi decided Lunetta was absolutely right.
He switched off the light and got back into bed. While he was falling to sleep, he made a list of all the things he would have to do the next day.
After the alarm clock went off the next morning, Bibi jumped out of bed, neatly folded his pyjamas, had milk and biscuits and brushed his teeth. He then quickly went down to the town centre to buy lots of new copybooks, crayons a nice schoolbag and a spotless white
