Pluto’s Beach, Bibione is starting its third consecutive season, but this year it’s gone up a gear, given that, last February, it was voted the best dog beach in Italy, receiving the animal ‘Four-legged Tourist’ Welcome award from the Ministry of Tourism.
Various dog beach facilities on offer were judged excellent, including the equipment, the activities for our four-legged friends and not least, the staff’s kindness and willingness to help. This was even more satisfying since the on-line votes to the Ministry’s site came from the tourists themselves who had brought along their dogs and who have visited the beach since July 2008.
Pluto’s Beach is open from May 1st to September 30th 2010.
The beach is at the east end of Bibione, and corresponds to Sector 1, with access from Via Procione. It is rightly considered one of Bibione’s curiosities but is a real treat for our four-legged friends and their owners, equipped with everything they could conceivably need. The beach umbrellas, complete with lead holder, are spread out at a distance of 5 metres between them, and the space reserved for the dogs themselves is above that recommended in the Society for the Protection of Animals guidelines. The team of dog lovers also makes sure that the right size bowls and beds are always available. Moreover, the constant cleaning and kindness of the staff working there are guaranteed. What the owners must provide are: microchip, up to date vaccination log and, from spring 2010, proof of anti-rabies vaccination.
Again in summer 2010 there will be Free dog training classes and agility trails.
Where? In a 12 x 12m area, fenced off for the purpose and protected from the sun.
When? From mid-June and throughout the summer, every Thursday from 16.30 to 18.30.
Who? The lessons are held by qualified trainers and skilled staff.
