50th anniversary

In this year Bibione celebrates its 50th anniversary: in 1956 its tourist development began thanks to the initiative of a few families that being landowners decided to donate some plots of land to the diocesan administration, which immediately built a church and a cinema on them. 

With the 60s a real building boom took place in the east side of the town, with the construction of the first hotels and block of flats, visited soon after by the tourists that arrived here also thanks to the first collaborations with some international tour operators. The name Bibione was officially recognized in 1960 and, almost simultaneously, it received the qualification of seaside resort. 

Already in 1961 Bibione was quoted by the general yearbook of the Touring Club and, only few decades after, it had become a true point of reference for the beach tourism all over Europe. At the end of the 60s Bibione counted already several hotels with more than 80/100 rooms and the first beach facilities were already built. But the unstoppable growth reached its peak during the 80s and 90s with the construction of high quality accommodation facilities, hotels, residences and holyday villages as well as the construction of the spa centre, that in the year 2006 celebrates 10 years of activity.
